Sweet Deco Room @ Otakon 2025

Otakon was kind enough to level up our sweet deco workshops by giving us our own room!

This dedicated room is on the M4 Level of the Marriott Marquis and is known as the CAPITOL ROOM.

The hours that this room will be open is very similar to the dealer room and is as follows:

Friday – August 8 – 12 PM to 8 PM
Saturday – August 9 – 10 AM to 7 PM
Sunday – August 10 – 10 AM to 3 PM

This room will be set up for beginners with step by step instructions and will be staffed with members who can assist and/or answer basic questions.

Sue will also host a small number of workshops.  There will be both 101 beginner workshops for those who wish to learn from Sue as well as a bit more (we’ll call it) 102 classes where attendees who have participated in our past 101 workshops can create sweets that are a bit more involved.

There have been inquiries about the sweet deco phone case we briefly mentioned so we wanted to take a moment to clarify what would be involved should guests wish to decorate a phone case.

Participants are welcome to decorate a phone case in the workshop with Sue, or on their own during the room’s open hours. Participants will need to provide their own phone case as we would not be able to do so. There are specific requirements on what phone cases would work best and there would have to be communication between BB and B and the guest to confirm the phone case that they would need to purchase (or already have in their posession).

• If the participant wishes to do a phone case at the Workshop with Sue, the nominal $5.00 fee would apply.
• If the participants wishes to decorate their phone case during the open hours, the $25 fee would apply.

Please note the following:

• Workshops with Sue will have a nominal $5.00 fee ($10.00 at the door if space is available) to reserve your seat(s). No other fee will be required.
• Non-workshop/ Free Open Times – Cost to create your own sweet deco designs will have a material fee ranging from $25-$35.  ($35 would apply on the larger or extensive deco pieces)
• Unlike before, a seat reservation is NOT required to participate in the room. As this is our first time with a dedicated room with an unknown response, we are offering the option of reserving seats for you and your family/friends if there is a specific date and time you would like to come and create. A $5.00 fee will be assessed at checkout which will then be applied as credit to the final $25-$35 material cost.
• The room will also have a Sweet Deco “Buffet” that will be available to any and all who wish to shop for cabochons, cream, and supplies. You do not need to design and/or create your sweets in our Sweet Deco room. You can simply buy the materials you’d like and create your own sweet creation at a later time.
• NOTE: Cash will NOT be accepted in the room. Credit/Debit/etc cards will be the only method of payment accepted in the room.

An account will be created for you to access our shopping site. You can login, choose the date and time to reserve your seat, and pay the fee. Current website clients can login with your current email address.

Once again, a reservation is NOT required to stop by the room at your convenience to shop or to create your own sweets. This is only if you’d like to participate in a workshop with Sue or if you have a specific date and time you’d like to reserve.
